For clinicians and care teams

Practice medical terms. See what your phone heard.

Misheard is a dictation practice app for iPhone and iPad. Practice medical terms and compare what Apple’s speech recognition transcribes. It does not connect to an EHR or ambient scribe, and results in those systems must be checked separately.

Free for 14 days, then $4.99 once. iPhone and iPad, US English. No app account.

The other half

You already bought the expensive half.

Medical terms and similar-sounding words can be difficult for speech recognition. Practice with generic terminology and fictional examples, not patient information.

A transcript lets you see which terms were recognized on this device and which need another attempt.

Misheard offers practice and transcript-based suggestions. It does not establish accuracy in an EHR or ambient scribe.

One round

Say it. See it. Fix it. Say it again.

Illustrative practice example. Your transcript and results may differ.

You saidGive forty of Lasix.
Phone heardGive forty of latex.
TryTry saying "Lasix" clearly in a full sentence, then compare the transcript. Recognition may still return a different word.
Next tryGive forty of Lasix. ✓

Coaching suggests a possible adjustment based on the returned transcript. It is not an analysis of your speech sounds, and suggestions can be wrong. Try again and compare the results; improvement is not guaranteed.

For the team

One list for the unit. Sent as a link.

A charge nurse or an informatics lead builds a list: this floor's formulary, the surgeons' names, the procedures that get mangled. Share the link. Every clinician who opens it gets the same drill on their own phone.

No app accounts, roster or admin console. Follow your organization’s approval and purchasing process before sharing a practice list with a unit.

You do not even need the app to build the list. Make one at misheard.app/l.

Privacy, security, and price

Understand the data flow before rollout.

The app has no Misheard backend, account, sync or analytics. Practice history and saved recordings stay in the app’s storage on your device.

Speech recognition runs on your device by default. If you turn off “Keep speech on device,” audio may be sent to Apple for recognition. Misheard does not receive your practice audio or transcripts.

Use non-sensitive practice words and fictional examples. Follow your organization’s requirements for device security, privacy, purchasing and deployment. Practice works offline with Keep speech on device enabled.

The full app unlock is $4.99 USD per person after 14 free days.

Misheard does not connect to an EHR or ambient scribe. It uses Apple’s speech recognition for practice. Improvement in another system is not established by a Misheard score; test that system separately.

Use generic terminology and fictional examples, not patient information. Recognition runs on-device by default; disabling Keep speech on device may send audio to Apple. Follow your organization’s privacy and security requirements.

Build a list, share the link, done. Each clinician installs the app themselves and buys it once after 14 free days. For volume purchasing questions, write to hello@misheard.app.
