And when a word is a true homophone, it says so plainly: nothing in your pronunciation can separate "their" from "there", and only the sentence around it will.

Keep speech on device is on by default, and while it is, nothing you say leaves your iPhone. Your words, scores and history are stored only there — we have no server to send them to and no way to see them. Turn that setting off and Misheard may use Apple's speech servers instead, exactly as keyboard dictation does; the app tells you which is happening on every result.

No — a very reasonable guess given the name, but no. misheard.app has nothing to do with song lyrics. It's a dictation practice app: it trains your speech patterns and pronunciation so voice-to-text software mishears you less often.
No. With Keep speech on device switched on — the default — recognition, scoring and history all stay on your iPhone, and the app works in airplane mode. Switch it off and Misheard may fall back to Apple's speech servers, the same as iOS dictation; the result screen always says which one was used.
